The Petrisberg is a true local recreation area for young and old.
Our guide will provide you with detailed information on what’s in store for you!
The principle is as simple as it is successful: water is fascinating. So you’d better pack a change of clothes – because no child stays dry here in summer! At the end of the water circuit, there is a giant sandpit – which is incidentally protected from the sun in summer by umbrellas! In the winter months, the water course is “drained”.
Whether it be along the educational wine path around the Petrisberg Plateau leading directly through the romantic vineyard landscape, or through the Petrisberg forest – hikers and walkers will be delighted here. There is, incidentally, also a wide range of “mountain climbing” options for more advanced hikers: along the Trier Ost (particularly the Kreuzweg), Trier Olewig or the Avelertal (through the hobby garden complex).
The contribution to the regional garden show (Landesgartenschau) of Trier’s eight partner cities – Weimar, Metz (France), Ascoli Piceno (Italy), Gloucester (England), Hertogenbosch (Holland), Pula (Croatia), Nagaoka (Japan) and Fort Worth (Texas, USA) – as well as a Luxemburgish garden, a Roman garden, a volcanic garden and a regional garden, have continued to be preserved after the show, and may be visited and admired.
